Help to Sri LankaPartnering with WUSC for post-tsunami reconstruction, The International Taoist Tai Chi Society to fund 50 000 $ for the reconstruction of schools in Sri Lanka. Indeed, it is our great pleasure to report the completion of the construction of our eight pre-schools in the region of Ampara, Sri Lanka, in partnership with the Social Welfare Organization of that district. The Society is particularly happy to have made the reflected decision, in the midst of the agitation that followed this tragedy, to call upon the World University Service of Canada which already had a base in Sri Lanka when the tragedy hit. WUSC used its expertise and on-site relations to help the Society identify a specific need, cut through the red tape and get right in there with our typical "eye see, hands do" mind set. The money we raised from members was not only applied to building the pre-schools but also to outfitting them with the necessary pedagogical resources and equipments. www.wusc.ca |
